From Twin Oaks
:
1) Turn right at the mill on to Yanceyville Rd. (VA 646) 2) Turn left (after 1 mile) on to Shannon Hill Rd. (VA 605) 3) Take your next left (after 2 miles) on to Mt. Airy Rd. (VA 644) 4) In 3.8 miles, pass on your left a trailer with stone facing. 5) Take your next left (0.1 mi. further), just before 4035 Mt. Airy, on to a one lane gravel road. 6) Take your first right (after 100 yards) at the red gate. From I-64 (from Charlottesville) : 1) Take Ferncliff exit #143 2) Turn left on 208 3) In 9 miles you'll reach Louisa. Turn right at the traffic light on to US 33 4) At the next traffic light in about a third of a mile by a shopping center area, go right on US 33 5) In two miles, turn right on 644 (Mt. Airy Rd.) 6) In nine-tenths of a mile, and after going under power lines, turn right before my mail box (4031) From I-64 (from Richmond) : 1) Take Shannon Hill exit (#148) and turn NE on Shannon Hill Rd. (left if coming from C'ville, right if coming from Richmond) 2) After 4 miles pass on your left Yanceyville Rd. and follow above Twin Oaks directions from step 3. From Louisa : 1) Follow US Highway 33 south (and east) 2) 2 miles after the shopping center, turn right on Mt. Airy Rd. (VA 644) 3) After 0.9 mile, turn right on to a one lane gravel road just after 4035 Mt. Airy 6) Take your first right (after 100 yards) at the red gate. From Dulles Airport : 1) Outside of the airport, head south on VA 28 towards Manassas. 2) In 10 miles get on I-66 going west. 3) In another 10 miles at exit 43 get on US 29 south 4) In about 38 miles, outside of Culpepper, take US 522 south (or east). 5) In about 37 miles you'll get to Mineral. 6) After crossing the railroad tracks, turn right onto US 22, continuing to follow VA 208. 7) In 3 to 4 miles, turn left on to School Bus Road (just after passing Chalk Level Rd. (VA 625) on your right.) 8) In a mile when the road ends, turn right on to US 33, and then an immediate left on to Mt. Airy Rd. (VA 644). 9) In 9/10ths of a mile turn right onto a one-lane dirt road in front of my mail box (4031). Take 1st right in 100 yards at red gate. You're here! |
From Washington, DC :
1) Take I-95 south out of DC.
2) Exit 118 (Thornburg).
3) Turn right to go west on VA 606
4) In 5 miles VA 208 joins VA 606
5) Stay on VA 208 (don't follow VA 606
when it goes its own way in another 4 miles).
6) In 20 miles at a T-junction turn left on to US 522
and continue to follow VA 208
7) In 6 miles you'll get to Mineral.
